Dear Respected parents/ guardians/teachers,
Salaamun Alaykum
The PCB would like to welcome you back to a new term at our Madressa. We pray that you have all had a restful and enjoyable Spring break and are ready for another fulfilling term for our children Inshallah.
Annual Charity Bake Sale
PCB in conjunction with Kenmore teachers will again be hosting the Annual Charity Bake Sale for the World Federation Ramadan Relief on May 15th. The children at Kenmore will still be required to arrive at Madressa at the usual time and attend their first morning classes. The Sale will commence at 11am however parents are invited to join the PCB team for a complimentary chai between 10 to 11 am to discuss future projects, raise any concerns or simply voice any ideas that you feel Madressa would benefit from. Parents with children in Classes 1 and 2 can then pick up their children at 11am and bring them to participate in the Bake Sale. From 12pm, parents with children in Classes 3 and 4 can collect their children for them to join the Sale. These timings will be confirmed by individual class teachers nearer the time.
Lessons for students attending the Stanmore site are unaffected.
Please note that having this Charity Bake is a vital practical lesson for our children to implement what is taught in Madressa about the importance of charity. Therefore, for all pupils in both sites, this will be considered a normal Madressa day and the usual attendance policies will apply.
This year the Bake Sale will be bigger and better and with more activities for the children including competitions, glitter tattoos and a surprise event!
The event, which is always highly anticipated by the children, relies on you, as parents, to make it a success. We therefore urge you all to get involved by getting baking and sending in your delights on the day.
In addition, please do support us by coming along on the day to purchase baked goods and enjoy the event!
Tips for a Healthy Ramadhan
With Ramadan soon approaching we have put together a few tips to help you ensure good health and endurance during the entire month for the whole family.
- Go easy at Iftar time and break your fast with some dates and water, milk or coconut water. Don't eat too quickly and try to eat small satisfying snacks throughout the evening.
- Know the foods that hydrate your body. When we are fasting, we are slowly being dehydrated over the course of the day. So once we break our fast, try and make juices out of fruits and soups out of vegetables to give your body the additional water it needs.
- Avoid salty spicy foods which will only leave you more thirsty afterwards.
- Limit coffee and tea intake which will also dehydrate the body
- Avoid fried foods. We are not advocating that everyone forgo their favourite samosa ( we love them too!) but it is possible to bake them instead of fry so consider that an option as fried foods are heavy in oil and that makes them harder to digest especially when they are the first foods to be eaten after a long fast.

The best of people is he who gives away his hard earned money (in charity)
