Salaamun Alaykum,

£1 Charity Appeal for Syrian Refugee Appeal
To celebrate the birth anniversary of the ‘Mercy to Mankind’ and our beloved 6th Imam Ja’far As Sadiq (AS) the S I Madressa would like to invite all staff members to actively take part in the celebration and by bringing a voluntarily donation of at least £1 on Sunday 26th January, which will go towards the Syrian Refugee Appeal led by the World Federation of KSIMC. Our aim is to raise a minimum of £1,000 in one day for the refugees, many of who are children and living in difficult circumstances in neighbouring countries around Syria.

Funds should be collected by staff and sent to the Madressa office as soon as the funds have been collected.

IT / AV Update
Almost all classrooms in Stanmore will have a TV in their classroom and behind each TV is a cable to connect laptops to the TV. Cables to connect iPads and iMacs are also available in the Madressa office. Wi-Fi is also available at both sites, Kenmore & Stanmore. If you require the Wi-Fi password please email admin@madressa.net and this will be sent to you. Please find attached here page from the teachers manual which explains how to connect your laptop to the TV screens.

Teacher Initiative: Student / Teacher Contracts
Please find attached here a template Student / Teacher contract prepared by a staff member in the Gents Tareekh Department to help manage the classroom. A great example of our staff members bringing in their own professional expertise into the classroom.

External Message: Madrasah Centre of Excellence (a World Federation Initiative)
The Curriculum Development team of the World Federation's Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) has recently released the Draft Curriculum Framework for Madrasah which was produced after a lengthy process of consensus and consultation with religious scholars, educationalists and Madrasah teachers. A detailed review of the major curricula currently used by Madaris globally was also carried out.

Copies of the Framework document are being sent to all teachers in each Madrasah in every region for their feedback. An electronic version is also available on the MCE website and can be downloaded at http://madrasahonline.org/download/curriculum-development.

The next step will be to hold consultation sessions in each region with representatives from Madaris in that region. The purpose of the consultation, which will be facilitated by the WF MCE Curriculum Development team, will be threefold:
·         To discuss the framework in detail and deal with any queries
·         To obtain in-depth feedback from the attendees
·         To agree the next steps

We have been advised that the consultation session for the CoEJ region is likely to be in late February or early March 2014 and will let you know once a date has been proposed. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries regarding the above.

Included in each Framework document is a Feedback Questionnaire for the teachers to complete and return to their respective Madrasah Principals by 7th February 2014
