Teachers Information Update
Friday 20 September, 2013 / 12 Dhul Qa'adah 1434

Teacher's Tip
Recap last week’s lesson in 5-10 quick points. Refresh their minds with asking questions and prepare them for your lesson today.

Term 3 Assessments
Term 3 Assessments are around the corner and deadlines are tight and should be strictly followed. Some of you may have been contacted by your Head of Department whilst others will soon be updated by their Heads of Department. If you feel you may not be able to meet the deadlines or have any other concerns, please communicate with your Head of Department prior to the deadline. HoDs (Heads of Department) are not expected to follow up with teachers numerous times to request their papers and / or their marks. Your co-operation is much appreciated.

Policy Reminder - Gadgets in Madressa
As per the Student Handbook, this is a reminder that gadgets are to be left switched off in student's bags and should not be on their person during lesson time. If it is, teachers have a right to confiscate after which they can hand to admin and parents will need to collect from us. We should switch them off, put them in the safe and label them with the child's name and class.

In Classroom Rules on our website it also states that "Valuable items (mobile phones, iPods etc) are to be kept switched off and stored at the bottom of your bag.  All items are brought in at your own risk. Confiscated items can only be collected by parents/guardians from the Madressa Office."

HED - Talk of the Week
The HED department of S I Madressa have the pleasure to host a talk by Dr. Nafeez Ahmed, a published academic on Climate Change and Security issues. His talk on Sunday will cover the impact of 9/11 on Muslims as a precursor to understanding current events in the Middle East. A brief bio data is given below.

Dr. Nafeez Ahmed is a bestselling author, investigative journalist and international security scholar. He is executive director of the Institute for Policy Research & Development, and author of A User's Guide to the Crisis of Civilization among other books. He writes for the Guardian on the geopolitics of environmental, energy and economic crises on his Earth insight blog

Madressa students and Stanmore Jafferys will be...
For the next few weeks, Madressa students and Stanmore Jafferys will be helping raise money for the World Federation's 'Fill My Cup' appeal. View the promotional video for this appeal here.

For £2/month each of these children is served a nutritious cup of porridge every morning before they begin their school day. With a full stomach and a peaceful mind, they become better learners and increase their odds of breaking out of the cycle of poverty. The Madressa class that raises the most will each be awarded a prize! Please support and encourage your children to raise whatever they can for this appeal.
