Dear Parents/Guardians

The Madressa Higher Education Department is pleased to inform you about a field trip to Willow Brook Farm – the first and only Organic Muslim Farm in the UK on Sunday 22nd June 2025.

The topics that the visit will address are:

Rearing animals according to Islamic principles
Organic farming and decreasing the distances food miles
Sharia pitfalls in commercial farming methods
Conservation of the resources Allah has blessed us with and avoidance of asraaf, as well as modern developments in the concept of hima
Alternative methods of generating energy, avoidance of pollution and living in balance with nature in a Cob House
Hikma from ahadith on the food we consume from meat/veg balance to fruits in season

The details of the trip below:

Cost: £35 per person* (This trip is being partially subsidised by the S I Madressa as the entrance fee is £22.60 and the coach cost is £20 per child.)

Date: 22nd June 2025

Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Lunch: All students are required to bring their own packed lunches – please ensure this is nut-free

Additional Information: Students may also bring some money to buy ice-creams/cakes etc from the farm shop

Transport: The coach will leave Northwood School at 9:00am and arrive back at Northwood School at approximately 5:00pm

Please ensure your child arrives at Northwood School no later than 8:45am as the coach will leave promptly at 9:00am.

The itinerary for the day is as follows:

10:00 – 10:30 Arrive and organise group (change shoes etc)

10:30 – 12:00 Tour of Willowbrook Farm and talk about environmentalism, Islam, sustainability, responsibility and the organic farming life, by Dr. Lutfi Radwan

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch

13:00 – 15:00 Seasonal farming workshop and/or demonstrations or free time for games or your own workshop.

15:00 – 16:00 Farm Shop available before you leave.

All our students are encouraged to sign up for this fantastic opportunity. Please complete the consent form and once completed you will be asked to make the payment via PayPal.

Please note, we require a minimum of 45 students to sign up in order for the trip to go ahead.
