What I need and Valuables

Student Manuals

Student Manuals will be given to students over the first few weeks of Madressa. They must be brought to the Madressa every week. Please also ensure that your child has basic stationary supplies (pens, pencils, rules, erasers, etc.).

Qur’an with English Translation

Each child in Classes 5 – 10 is required to bring their own copy of the Qur’an with english translation, each week to the Madressa. This ‘personal Qur’an’ is to help the student build a personal connection. The Qur’an Appreciation Department recommends: The Qur’an: With a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation translated by ‘Ali Quli Qara’i or The Qur’an: Translated by M.H. Shakir as it contains a more modern language and will be easier for students to understand and achieve a connection. While these specific translations are highly recommended, it is only a recommendation. What is essential is that each student has a copy of the Quran with translation to bring with them on Sundays.

Packed Lunch and Mohr/Turbah

Please provide a healthy snack or packed lunch for your child. Only bottled water will be permitted during class time. No fizzy drinks allowed during Madressa. There is no catering facility on site at present, so students must bring their own lunch. Each student should bring a Mohr/Turbah for Salah time.

Valuable Items

Valuable items such as mobile phones, iPods, etc., are to be kept switched off and stored at the bottom of student’s bags. All items are brought at the student’s own risk. No phones or devices are to be used in class, unless authorised by the teacher during an exercise. If items are found being used by a student during class time, or out of their bag, they will be confiscated and can only be collected by a parent.
