Identify students requiring assistance in meeting the learning requirements and objectives of the Madressa syllabus using a variety of means (monitoring exam/assessment results, referrals from teachers, referrals from parents/guardians, registration forms).
Assess the specific nature of the problem(s) facing the student (e.g. type of learning disability, social interaction, communication difficulties, pastoral care, developmental problems etc).
Establish a system of identifying and assessing students needing learning support (i.e. how and why they do not meet the learning objectives of the syllabus and what we can do to help).
Provide all teachers with 1) criteria enabling them to identify students requiring learning support 2) a procedure for helping their students, with appropriate training and support from the LS Workshop.
STAGE 2 PROVISION OF SUPPORT

Establish a workshop for students where they will receive one-to-one or small-group assistance with all areas of Madressa work and other remedial help if necessary.
Provide staff to serve as personal mentors to whom students can relate all problems to in strict confidence and who can then help find solutions to their problems.
Provide one-to-one or small group support the regular class whenever possible, enabling the student to enjoy the many benefits of both learning with their regular peers and teachers and with personal attention.
Provide regular class and LS teachers with support from the LS team in helping their pupils.
STAGE 3 CO-OPERATION & USING ALL AVAILABLE RESOURCES
Ensure heads of departments, the principal, co-ordinators and parents/guardians are all involved in the learning support process by having an input into the help that is provided and being kept informed of progress regularly.
Assemble a team of staff, from internal and external sources, who can provide expertise in Islamic Studies, general teaching, child psychology and behaviour, special needs teaching and learning support etc.. This will enable the LS Workshop to adequately provide a fully personalised programme of support to the students.
STAGE 4 RECORDING AND REWARDING PROGRESS; REFINING AND IMPROVING.
